THE LIFT
When we first moved to Live Oak Island, our home had an elevator. However, and that is a big however, I used it primarily for cargo opting to take the stairs. The idea of getting stuck in the elevator with a long wait for a technician to arrive just motivated me to enjoy the fitness benefit of the stairs.
Hurricane Michael removed the first floor shaft and the force of the water damaged the rest of the elevator's infrastructure to the extent that we had it removed and closed off the shaft at each floor for additional storage.
In October we had a concrete pad poured for a cargo lift and on Thanksgiving Day they came out and installed the lift. It's been a great addition for loading groceries and anything else that is too big and bulky to take up or down the stairs.
It was quite interesting to observe the installation. I hope you enjoy the pictures!
